Green with Envy

I am loving this green table!
Everyone is going to be with GREEN with envy when your read how much a paid for it....$0.
It was a craigslist FREE curb alert!!

It was a little dirty and spotted, but nothin we couldn't fix right up!!

I painted it the Rosemary Bush by Benjamin Moore.

I taped the entire top.  I am lazy, and hate math and measuring.
The solution...tape off the entire top.

Peel off every other piece and your stripes are perfectly spaces AND straight!!  BAAM!

I painted it with factory black.

Take off your tape, and the masterpiece is revealed.

I just love the black & white, and green combo.  I was inspired by the colors
of the latest ballard designs!

Brassy to Bronze

Hello Spray Paint!!  I am in LOVE!  I have been spray painting every shiny, brassy, golden, 1980's metal fixture in our house.  The color and finish of Kylon's "Oil Rubbed Bronze" ROCKS!
Please notice the classic 1980's fixtures in our bathroom.
Also...please ignore the lovely forest green countertops and tile too.
Consider this a sneak peek of an upcoming makeover!

My helper was too close and eager to help!  Love those sweet toes!

Nothing can get any uglier in this bathroom.  I cleaned the faucets and dried them well.
I then taped everything off, and began painting.  I put on 3 light coats.

I am very, very, happy to be rid of the shiny gold and silver.
I am not sure how this will hold up, but I thought it was worth a try.
I figure I can simply give it more coats if anything wears off.
I have done several knobs in the house, and so far they are doing great.
Stay tuned for the rest of the bathroom makeover coming soon.

Poster Bed Makeover

This is another classic before and after!
The best part I got this bed for $2 at a garage sale!
I gave it two coats of a Benjamin Moore "MISTINT" Satin Impervo Paint.  It was oil based.
I always check the mistints first.  Since I discovered this I hardly ever buy paint retail!
Another tip I recently read is that most paint stores run a 40% off sale once a month.  You can stock up on
base colors and have it tinted later when you know what color you need.  This would work perfect for projects that you need more paint.

This story gets even better.  We already SOLD the bed, and had 3 backups.  We love refinishing furniture.  It is becoming our side business on top of keeping up with our 11 children!!   Like so many others in this economy our family budget is TIGHT! SO...helping out financially is very important.  We have transformed several CURB ALERTS or pay $5 or less, so that we are not straining the family budget.  It is so easy to get caught in the spending money to make money cycle.  Plus when you only pay $5 or less there is no pressure to sell an item for a big price.  Its a win/win!
We love being stay-at-home moms,
and the flexibility of this job helps keep that the priority.
Here is the LOW DOWN:
We only paid $2 for this solid, real wood piece, and we sold it for $75 on craigslist the day we listed it.  We also sold our Union Jack Table, and Bench.  We see alot of other bloggers talking about selling their pieces, but rarely do We see how much they sold thier items for.  Money is a funny thing and many don't like to talk about it.  We always want to know that info.  Its so hard to price pieces sometimes.  So next time you are at a sale, pondering and questioning if there is any profit in a piece...BUY IT!! or we just might!
Hope this info helps someone out there.

Goodwill Frame Makeover

I got this rocking frame at the Goodwill for $3.99.  It just needed some serious TLC.

I took out the print and it was backed with wood.  I just painted it with
Chalkboard Paint.  I started with black paint.

I then put a fresh coat of white and distressed.  Just like magic I have
a chic chalkboard!

Happy Monday!

                                    HAPPY WEEKEND!!
What a GREAT week!  Thank you everone for linking up!  I have terrible time

bed once my energizer bunnies go to bed.  So please understand if I don't get a personal
message to every link.  I wish I could, but my 3yr, 2yr, and 9 month are wearing me out lately.

Handpainted Sign Tutorial

I just LOVE how this turned out.  I started with a cabinet door
that I got at a local hardware store for $2.

I painted it with Old White Chalk Paint.  I did the detailing with
Provence Chalk Paint.  I got my vintage french wording from The Graphics Fairy

I used my overhead projecter to transfer the graphic like I did HERE, and HERE.

I free handed on the vintage doorknob because the FRENCH
translation has to do with an old hardare ad
I sanded and distressed.  I then used a little dark wax and clear wax and was finished.

Blooming Bench: Before & After

I got this dark and dreary old bench at a garage sale for $2.
It was it great shape...All it needed was a makeover!

I got some of that fabulous Top Drawer fabric line at Hancock's that is
covered in a thin layer of plastic.  It is like laminated fabric.
The have some new gorgeous prints!  It was so hard to choose.
